Bigfoot was caught making a noise in Connecticut’s Sasquatch hotspot last year, according to a recent report from the Bigfoot Field Research Organization.
A Fairfield County resident heard the hairy giant’s “long howls/howls” shortly after midnight in October. 17, 2023 – igniting the fury of a barking dog and sending the owls into a horrified silence.
“This voice had a lot of ‘power’ behind it and I could tell it was carried over a distance. I would estimate ‘roughly’ at least two clicks [1.25 miles] from my coordinates,” the anonymous witness said in the report, which was released this summer.
Yowie screams emanated from a wooded area near the town of Monroe and lasted up to 10 terrifying minutes, according to the witness.
The alleged Bigfoot would scream for about 10 seconds and stop before repeating the pattern — which the reporter claims matches other Sasquatch recordings captured and shared on YouTube.
“All the dogs in the area started barking immediately when the vocalizations ended. Normally there are a lot of owls in the area and when I went outside before I could hear them,” the witness said, adding that they were sure the noises were not coming from a coyote, bobcat, cougar or fox.
“When I noticed the vocalizations were over, it was probably ten minutes before I could hear the owls again.”
According to BFRO investigator and founder Matthew Moneymaker, the report was not shared for almost a year because it was a sound-only report – but an investigation found the claims credible enough to establish a Class B categorisation.
The incident took place near a railway bed and power line which lies at the location of other sightings – including one from February 2022, in which a woman allegedly saw a “very tall straight all black figure”. chasing 30 deer through her backyard in Bethel.
“My first thought was that this is either a person or a big foot. I did a quick checklist in my head and ruled out one person,” the witness said.
“It was solid black from head to toe with no color differences. It was also too big to be a person. I had a size comparison with the deer that just walked by. The black figure was about 2.5 times the height of the deer’s body. It must have been between 8 and 10 meters long.”
Moneymaker said the October 2023 incident was deemed credible after determining that known species in the area would not have been able to make the “unidentified strange sound” that was reported.
“I contacted the witness to make sure the person was real and if more of the sounds were heard at the location,” Monekymaker told The Post.
“He heard a loud screeching sound that is distinct from other animals, but consistent with a large foot. It happened in an area with a history of sightings stretching back decades. The area has the main ingredient present in other viewing locations: An abundance of deer in the area.”
The sighting marks the fifth Sasquatch sighting in Fairfield County since 1953.
Connecticut is apparently a playground for Sasquatches, with 25 total sightings reported over the past seven decades, according to the BFRO.
Litchfield has the most sightings of any county with 11, the most recent of which occurred in the summer of 2022.
A retired police officer reported hearing screams and noises in a similar, repeating pattern to what the Fairfield County resident would describe just over a year later.
